Members of the Trade Federation have occupied the peaceful planet Naboo. However, its young ruler refuses to cooperate with the invaders. Together with the Jedi Knight Qui-Gon Jinn and his "apprentice" Obi-Wan Kenobi, she sets off to protest against the occupation to the Federation Senate. As their spaceship is damaged during their escape, the trio have to make an emergency landing on the planet Tatooine. There they meet the nine-year-old slave Anakin, in whom Qui-Gon recognizes a worthy Jedi candidate...
